README
The file <Frost_etal2006.ss> is the matrix version (in Hennig86 format) of the implied alignment of the combined data. Appended to this matrix are the four most parsimonious trees obtained. For details regarding the data and analyses see Frost et al. (2006). All DNA sequences are available on GenBank.

The remaining files are input files formatted for analysis in POY under dynamic homology; pound signs ("#") divide sequences into contiguous fragments (for details see Frost et al., 2006: 18):

h3.poy:	Unaligned histone H3 sequences
mt.poy: Unaligned mitochondrial H-strand transcription unit 1 sequences
rhod.poy: Unaligned rhodopsin exon 1 sequences
sia.poy: Unaligned seventh in absentia sequences
tyr.poy: Unaligned tyrosinase exon 1 sequences
28s.poy: Unaligned large ribosomal subunit (28S) sequences
haasJF.ss: Matrix (in Hennig86 format) of included phenotypic transformation series from Haas (2003)
terms: List of included terminals used in conjunction with the "terminalsfile" command in POY.

CORRECTION TO FROST ET AL., 2006
The tree length of 127,017 steps reported on p. 111 for the four most parsimonious trees is incorrect. The correct length for these trees is 126,929 steps. One of these trees was obtained directly in POY (1996-2003), and the remaining three were discovered by further analyzing the implied alignment in NONA (Goloboff, 1993-1999), spawned from WinClada (Nixon, 1999-2002).
